1이것은 예수 그리스도의 계시입니다. 이 계시는 곧 일어나야 할 일들을 그 종들에게 보이시려고, 하나님께서 그리스도에게 주신 것입니다. 그런데 그리스도께서는 자기의 천사를 보내셔서, 자기의 종 요한에게 이것을 알려 주셨습니다.

1The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John,

2요한은, 하나님의 말씀과 예수 그리스도의 증언 곧 자기가 본 것을 다 증언하였습니다.

2who testifies to everything he saw-that is, the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ.

3이 예언의 말씀을 읽는 사람과 듣는 사람들과 그 안에 기록되어 있는 것을 지키는 사람들은 복이 있습니다. 그 때가 가까이 왔기 때문입니다.

3Blessed is the one who reads the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.

4요한은 아시아에 있는 일곱 교회에 편지하노니 이제도 계시고 전에도 계셨고 장차 오실 이와 그의 보좌 앞에 있는 일곱 영과

4John, To the seven churches in the province of Asia: Grace and peace to you from him who is, and who was, and who is to come, and from the seven spirits before his throne,

5또 신실한 증인이시요 죽은 사람들의 첫 열매이시요 땅 위의 왕들의 지배자이신 예수 그리스도께서 내려 주시는 은혜와 평화가, 여러분에게 있기를 빕니다. 예수 그리스도께서는 우리를 사랑하시며, 자기의 피로 우리의 죄에서 우리를 해방하여 주셨고,

5and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood,

6우리로 하여금 나라가 되게 하시어 자기 아버지 하나님을 섬기는 제사장으로 삼아 주셨습니다. 그에게 영광과 권세가 영원무궁 하도록 있기를 빕니다. 아멘.

6and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father-to him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen.

7"보아라, 그가 구름을 타고 오신다. 눈이 있는 사람은 다 그를 볼 것이요, 그를 찌른 사람들도 볼 것이다. 땅 위의 모든 족속이 그분 때문에 가슴을 칠 것이다." 꼭 그렇게 될 것입니다. 아멘.

7Look, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him; and all the peoples of the earth will mourn because of him. So shall it be! Amen.

8지금도 계시고 전에도 계셨고 앞으로 오실 전능하신 주 하나님께서 "나는 알파요 오메가다" 하고 말씀하십니다.

8'I am the Alpha and the Omega,' says the Lord God, 'who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.'

9예수 안에서 여러분의 형제요 예수 안에서 환난과 그 나라와 인내에 여러분과 더불어 참여한 사람인 나 요한은, 하나님의 말씀과 예수에 대한 증언 때문에 밧모라는 섬에 갇혀 있게 되었습니다.

9I, John, your brother and companion in the suffering and kingdom and patient endurance that are ours in Jesus, was on the island of Patmos because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus.

10주님의 날에 내가 성령에 사로잡혀 내 뒤에서 나팔 소리처럼 울리는 큰 음성을 들었습니다.

10On the Lord's Day I was in the Spirit, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet,

11그 음성은 이렇게 말하였습니다. "네가 보는 것을 책에 기록하여, 일곱 교회, 곧 에베소와 서머나와 버가모와 두아디라와 사데와 빌라델비아와 라오디게아의 교회로 보내라."

11which said: 'Write on a scroll what you see and send it to the seven churches: to Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia and Laodicea.'

12그래서 나는 내게 들려 오는 그 음성을 알아보려고 돌아섰습니다. 돌아서서 보니, 일곱 금 촛대가 있는데,

12I turned around to see the voice that was speaking to me. And when I turned I saw seven golden lampstands,

13그 촛대 한가운데 '인자와 같은 분'이 계셨습니다. 그는 발에 끌리는 긴 옷을 입고, 가슴에는 금띠를 띠고 계셨습니다.

13and among the lampstands was someone 'like a son of man,' dressed in a robe reaching down to his feet and with a golden sash around his chest.

14머리와 머리털은 흰 양털과 같이, 또 눈과 같이 희고, 눈은 불꽃과 같고,

14His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire.

15발은 풀무불에 달구어 낸 놋쇠와 같고, 음성은 큰 물소리와 같았습니다.

15His feet were like bronze glowing in a furnace, and his voice was like the sound of rushing waters.

16또 오른손에는 일곱 별을 쥐고, 입에서는 날카로운 양날 칼이 나오고, 얼굴은 해가 강렬하게 비치는 것과 같았습니다.

16In his right hand he held seven stars, and out of his mouth came a sharp double-edged sword. His face was like the sun shining in all its brilliance.

17그를 뵐 때에, 내가 그의 발 앞에 엎어져서 죽은 사람과 같이 되니, 그가 내게 오른손을 얹고 말씀하셨습니다. "두려워하지 말아라. 나는 처음이며 마지막이요,

17When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: "Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last.

18살아 있는 자다. 나는 한 번은 죽었으나, 보아라, 영원무궁 하도록 살아 있어서, 사망과 지옥의 열쇠를 가지고 있다.

18I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.

19그러므로 너는, 네가 본 것과 지금의 일들과 이 다음에 일어날 일들을 기록하여라.

19'Write, therefore, what you have seen, what is now and what will take place later.

20네가 본 내 오른손의 일곱 별과 일곱 금 촛대의 비밀은 이러하다. 일곱 별은 일곱 교회의 심부름꾼이요, 일곱 촛대는 일곱 교회다."

20The mystery of the seven stars that you saw in my right hand and of the seven golden lampstands is this: The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches.
