1"장차 한 왕이 나와서 공의로 통치하고, 통치자들이 공평으로 다스릴 것이다."

1See, a king will reign in righteousness and rulers will rule with justice.

2통치자들마다 광풍을 피하는 곳과 같고, 폭우를 막는 곳과 같게 될 것입니다. 메마른 땅에서 흐르는 냇물과 같을 것이며, 사막에 있는 큰 바위 그늘과 같을 것입니다.

2Each man will be like a shelter from the wind and a refuge from the storm, like streams of water in the desert and the shadow of a great rock in a thirsty land.

3"백성을 돌보는 통치자의 눈이 멀지 않을 것이며, 백성의 요구를 듣는 통치자의 귀가 막히지 않을 것이다.

3Then the eyes of those who see will no longer be closed, and the ears of those who hear will listen.

4그들은 경솔하지 않을 것이며, 사려 깊게 행동할 것이며, 그들이 의도한 것을 분명하게 말할 것이다."

4The mind of the rash will know and understand, and the stammering tongue will be fluent and clear.

5아무도 어리석은 사람을 더 이상 고상한 사람이라고 부르지 않을 것이며, 간교한 사람을 존귀한 사람이라고 말하지 않을 것입니다.

5No longer will the fool be called noble nor the scoundrel be highly respected.

6어리석은 사람은 어리석은 말을 하며, 그 마음으로 악을 좋아하여 불경건한 일을 하며, 주님께 함부로 말을 하고, 굶주린 사람에게 먹거리를 주지 않고, 목마른 사람에게 마실 물을 주지 않습니다.

6For the fool speaks folly, his mind is busy with evil: He practices ungodliness and spreads error concerning the LORD; the hungry he leaves empty and from the thirsty he withholds water.

7우둔한 사람은 악해서, 간계나 꾸미며, 힘 없는 사람들이 정당한 권리를 주장해도, 거짓말로 그 가난한 사람들을 파멸시킵니다.

7The scoundrel's methods are wicked, he makes up evil schemes to destroy the poor with lies, even when the plea of the needy is just.

8그러나 고귀한 사람은 고귀한 일을 계획하고, 그 고귀한 뜻을 펼치며 삽니다.

8But the noble man makes noble plans, and by noble deeds he stands.

9안일하게 사는 여인들아, 일어나서 나의 목소리를 들어라. 걱정거리가 없이 사는 딸들아, 내가 하는 말에 귀를 기울여라.

9You women who are so complacent, rise up and listen to me; you daughters who feel secure, hear what I have to say!

10걱정거리가 없이 사는 딸들아, 일 년이 채 되지 못하여 몸서리 칠 일이 생길 것이다. 포도농사가 망하여 거둘 것이 없을 것이다.

10In little more than a year you who feel secure will tremble; the grape harvest will fail, and the harvest of fruit will not come.

11안일하게 사는 여인들아, 몸부림 쳐라. 걱정거리가 없이 사는 여인들아, 몸서리 쳐라. 맨몸이 되도록 옷을 다 벗어버리고 베로 허리를 둘러라.

11Tremble, you complacent women; shudder, you daughters who feel secure! Strip off your clothes, put sackcloth around your waists.

12밭농사와 포도농사를 망쳤으니, 가슴을 쳐라.

12Beat your breasts for the pleasant fields, for the fruitful vines

13나의 백성이 사는 땅에 가시덤불과 찔레나무가 자랄 것이니, 가슴을 쳐라. 기쁨이 넘치던 모든 집과 흥겨운 소리 그치지 않던 성읍을 기억하고, 가슴을 쳐라.

13and for the land of my people, a land overgrown with thorns and briers-yes, mourn for all houses of merriment and for this city of revelry.

14요새는 파괴되고, 붐비던 도성은 텅 비고, 망대와 탑이 영원히 돌무더기가 되어서, 들나귀들이 즐거이 뛰노는 곳, 양 떼가 풀을 뜯는 곳이 될 것이다.

14The fortress will be abandoned, the noisy city deserted; citadel and watchtower will become a wasteland forever, the delight of donkeys, a pasture for flocks,

15그러나 주님께서 저 높은 곳에서부터 다시 우리에게 영을 보내 주시면, 황무지는 기름진 땅이 되고, 광야는 온갖 곡식을 풍성하게 내는 곡창지대가 될 것이다.

15till the Spirit is poured upon us from on high, and the desert becomes a fertile field, and the fertile field seems like a forest.

16그 때에는, 광야에 공평이 자리잡고, 기름진 땅에 의가 머물 것이다.

16Justice will dwell in the desert and righteousness live in the fertile field.

17의의 열매는 평화요, 의의 결실은 영원한 평안과 안전이다.

17The fruit of righteousness will be peace; the effect of righteousness will be quietness and confidence forever.

18나의 백성은 평화로운 집에서 살며, 안전한 거처, 평온히 쉴 수 있는 곳에서 살 것이다.

18My people will live in peaceful dwelling places, in secure homes, in undisturbed places of rest.

19(비록 삼림이 우박에 쓰러지고 성읍이 완전히 무너져 내려도,)

19Though hail flattens the forest and the city is leveled completely,

20씨를 뿌리는 곳마다 댈 물이 넉넉하고, 어디에서나 안심하고 소와 나귀를 놓아 키울 수 있으니, 너희는 복이 있다.

20how blessed you will be, sowing your seed by every stream, and letting your cattle and donkeys range free.
