1하나님의 뜻으로 그리스도 예수의 사도로 부르심을 받은 나 바울과, 형제 소스데네가,

1Paul, called to be an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and our brother Sosthenes,

2고린도에 있는 하나님의 교회에 이 편지를 씁니다. 그리스도 예수 안에서 거룩하여지고 성도로 부르심을 받은 여러분에게 문안드립니다. 또 각처에서 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 이름을 부르는 모든 이들에게도 아울러 문안드립니다. 예수 그리스도는 이 사람들의 주님이시며 우리의 주님이십니다.

2To the church of God in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus and called to be holy, together with all those everywhere who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ-their Lord and ours:

3하나님 우리 아버지와 주 예수 그리스도께서 내려주시는 은혜와 평화가 여러분에게 있기를 빕니다.

3Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

4나는 여러분이 그리스도 예수 안에서 받은 하나님의 은혜를 생각하고, 여러분의 일로 언제나 하나님께 감사를 드립니다.

4I always thank God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus.

5여러분은 그리스도 안에서 모든 면에 풍족하게 되었습니다. 곧 온갖 언변과 온갖 지식이 늘었습니다.

5For in him you have been enriched in every way-in all your speaking and in all your knowledge-

6그리스도에 관한 증언이 여러분 가운데서 이렇게도 튼튼하게 자리잡았습니다.

6because our testimony about Christ was confirmed in you.

7그리하여 여러분은 어떠한 은사에도 부족한 것이 없으며 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 나타나심을 기다리고 있습니다.

7Therefore you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed.

8우리 주 예수 [그리스도]께서 나타나실 날에 여러분이 흠잡을 데 없는 사람으로 설 수 있도록, 주님께서 여러분을 끝까지 튼튼히 세워주실 것입니다.

8He will keep you strong to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

9하나님은 신실하신 분이십니다. 하나님께서는 여러분을 부르셔서 그 아들 우리 주 예수 그리스도와 친교를 가지게 하여 주셨습니다.

9God, who has called you into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful.

10그런데, 형제자매 여러분, 나는 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 이름으로 여러분에게 권면합니다. 여러분은 모두 같은 말을 하며, 여러분 가운데 분열이 없도록 하며, 같은 마음과 같은 생각으로 뭉치십시오.

10I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another so that there may be no divisions among you and that you may be perfectly united in mind and thought.

11나의 형제자매 여러분, 글로에의 집 사람들이 여러분의 소식을 전해 주어서 나는 여러분 가운데에 분쟁이 있다는 것을 알게 되었습니다.

11My brothers, some from Chloe's household have informed me that there are quarrels among you.

12다름이 아니라, 여러분은 저마다 말하기를 "나는 바울 편이다", "나는 아볼로 편이다", "나는 게바 편이다", "나는 그리스도 편이다" 한다고 합니다.

12What I mean is this: One of you says, 'I follow Paul'; another, 'I follow Apollos'; another, 'I follow Cephas'; still another, 'I follow Christ.'

13그리스도께서 갈라지셨습니까? 바울이 여러분을 위하여 십자가에 달리기라도 했습니까? 또는, 여러분이 바울의 이름으로 세례를 받았습니까?

13Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Were you baptized into the name of Paul?

14내가 여러분 가운데에서 그리스보와 가이오 밖에는, 아무에게도 세례를 준 일이 없음을 [하나님께] 감사드립니다.

14I am thankful that I did not baptize any of you except Crispus and Gaius,

15그러므로, 아무도 나의 이름으로 세례를 받았다고 말하지 못할 것입니다.

15so no one can say that you were baptized into my name.

16내가 스데바나 가족에게도 세례를 주었습니다마는, 그 밖에는 다른 누구에게 세례를 주었는지 나는 모릅니다.

16(Yes, I also baptized the household of Stephanas; beyond that, I don't remember if I baptized anyone else.)

17그리스도께서는 세례를 주라고 나를 보내신 것이 아니라, 복음을 전하라고 보내셨습니다. 복음을 전하되, 말의 지혜로 하지 않게 하셨습니다. 그것은 그리스도의 십자가가 헛되이 되지 않게 하시려는 것입니다.

17For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel-not with words of human wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power.

18십자가의 말씀이 멸망할 자들에게는 어리석은 것이지만, 구원을 받는 사람인 우리에게는 하나님의 능력입니다.

18For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

19성경에 기록하기를 "내가 지혜로운 자들의 지혜를 멸하고, 총명한 자들의 총명을 폐할 것이다" 하였습니다.

19For it is written: 'I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.'

20현자가 어디에 있습니까? 학자가 어디에 있습니까? 이 세상의 변론가가 어디에 있습니까? 하나님께서는 이 세상의 지혜를 어리석게 하신 것이 아닙니까?

20Where is the wise man? Where is the scholar? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?

21이 세상은 그 지혜로 하나님을 알지 못하였습니다. 하나님의 지혜가 그렇게 되도록 한 것입니다. 하나님께서는 어리석게 들리는 설교를 통하여 믿는 사람들을 구원하시기를 기뻐하신 것입니다.

21For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe.

22유대 사람은 기적을 요구하고, 그리스 사람은 지혜를 찾으나,

22Jews demand miraculous signs and Greeks look for wisdom,

23우리는 십자가에 달리신 그리스도를 전합니다. 그리스도가 십자가에 달리셨다는 것은 유대 사람에게는 거리낌이고, 이방 사람에게는 어리석은 일입니다.

23but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles,

24그러나 부르심을 받은 사람에게는, 유대 사람에게나 그리스 사람에게나, 이 그리스도는 하나님의 능력이요, 하나님의 지혜입니다.

24but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.

25하나님의 어리석음이 사람의 지혜보다 더 지혜롭고, 하나님의 약함이 사람의 강함보다 더 강합니다.

25For the foolishness of God is wiser than man's wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man's strength.

26형제자매 여러분, 여러분이 부르심을 받을 때에, 그 처지가 어떠하였는지 생각하여 보십시오. 육신의 기준으로 보아서, 지혜 있는 사람이 많지 않고, 권력 있는 사람이 많지 않고, 가문이 훌륭한 사람이 많지 않았습니다.

26Brothers, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth.

27그런데 하나님께서는, 지혜 있는 자들을 부끄럽게 하시려고 세상의 어리석은 것들을 택하셨으며, 강한 것들을 부끄럽게 하시려고 세상의 약한 것들을 택하셨습니다.

27But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.

28하나님께서는 세상에서 비천한 것들과 멸시받는 것들을 택하셨으니 곧 잘났다고 하는 것들을 없애시려고 아무것도 아닌 것들을 택하셨습니다.

28He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things-and the things that are not-to nullify the things that are,

29이리하여 아무도 하나님 앞에서는 자랑하지 못하게 하시려는 것입니다.

29so that no one may boast before him.

30그러나 여러분은 하나님의 자녀로서 그리스도 예수 안에 있습니다. 그는 우리에게 하나님으로부터 오는 지혜가 되시며, 의와 거룩함과 구원이 되셨습니다.

30It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God-that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption.

31그것은, 성경에 기록되어 있는 바 "누구든지 자랑하려거든 주님을 자랑하라" 한 대로 되게 하시려는 것입니다.

31Therefore, as it is written: 'Let him who boasts boast in the Lord.'
