1보라 장차 한 왕이 공의로 통치할 것이요 방백들이 정의로 다스릴 것이며

1See, a king will reign in righteousness and rulers will rule with justice.

2또 그 사람은 광풍을 피하는 곳, 폭우를 가리는 곳 같을 것이며 마른 땅에 냇물 같을 것이며 곤비한 땅에 큰 바위 그늘 같으리니

2Each man will be like a shelter from the wind and a refuge from the storm, like streams of water in the desert and the shadow of a great rock in a thirsty land.

3보는 자의 눈이 감기지 아니할 것이요 듣는 자가 귀를 기울일 것이며

3Then the eyes of those who see will no longer be closed, and the ears of those who hear will listen.

4조급한 자의 마음이 지식을 깨닫고 어눌한 자의 혀가 민첩하여 말을 분명히 할 것이라

4The mind of the rash will know and understand, and the stammering tongue will be fluent and clear.

5어리석은 자를 다시 존귀하다 부르지 아니하겠고 우둔한 자를 다시 존귀한 자라 말하지 아니하리니

5No longer will the fool be called noble nor the scoundrel be highly respected.

6이는 어리석은 자는 어리석은 것을 말하며 그 마음에 불의를 품어 간사를 행하며 패역한 말로 여호와를 거스르며 주린 자의 속을 비게 하며 목마른 자에게서 마실 것을 없어지게 함이며

6For the fool speaks folly, his mind is busy with evil: He practices ungodliness and spreads error concerning the LORD; the hungry he leaves empty and from the thirsty he withholds water.

7악한 자는 그 그릇이 악하여 악한 계획을 세워 거짓말로 가련한 자를 멸하며 가난한 자가 말을 바르게 할지라도 그리함이거니와

7The scoundrel's methods are wicked, he makes up evil schemes to destroy the poor with lies, even when the plea of the needy is just.

8존귀한 자는 존귀한 일을 계획하나니 그는 항상 존귀한 일에 서리라

8But the noble man makes noble plans, and by noble deeds he stands.

9너희 안일한 여인들아 일어나 내 목소리를 들을지어다 너희 염려 없는 딸들아 내 말에 귀를 기울일지어다

9You women who are so complacent, rise up and listen to me; you daughters who feel secure, hear what I have to say!

10너희 염려 없는 여자들아 일 년 남짓 지나면 너희가 당황하리니 포도 수확이 없으며 열매 거두는 일이 이르지 않을 것임이라

10In little more than a year you who feel secure will tremble; the grape harvest will fail, and the harvest of fruit will not come.

11너희 안일한 여자들아 떨지어다 너희 염려 없는 자들아 당황할지어다 옷을 벗어 몸을 드러내고 베로 허리를 동일지어다

11Tremble, you complacent women; shudder, you daughters who feel secure! Strip off your clothes, put sackcloth around your waists.

12그들은 좋은 밭으로 인하여 열매 많은 포도나무로 인하여 가슴을 치게 될 것이니라

12Beat your breasts for the pleasant fields, for the fruitful vines

13내 백성의 땅에 가시와 찔레가 나며 희락의 성읍, 기뻐하는 모든 집에 나리니

13and for the land of my people, a land overgrown with thorns and briers-yes, mourn for all houses of merriment and for this city of revelry.

14대저 궁전이 폐한 바 되며 인구 많던 성읍이 적막하며 오벨과 망대가 영원히 굴혈이 되며 들나귀가 즐기는 곳과 양 떼의 초장이 되려니와

14The fortress will be abandoned, the noisy city deserted; citadel and watchtower will become a wasteland forever, the delight of donkeys, a pasture for flocks,

15마침내 위에서부터 영을 우리에게 부어 주시리니 광야가 아름다운 밭이 되며 아름다운 밭을 숲으로 여기게 되리라

15till the Spirit is poured upon us from on high, and the desert becomes a fertile field, and the fertile field seems like a forest.

16그 때에 정의가 광야에 거하며 공의가 아름다운 밭에 거하리니

16Justice will dwell in the desert and righteousness live in the fertile field.

17공의의 열매는 화평이요 공의의 결과는 영원한 평안과 안전이라

17The fruit of righteousness will be peace; the effect of righteousness will be quietness and confidence forever.

18내 백성이 화평한 집과 안전한 거처와 조용히 쉬는 곳에 있으려니와

18My people will live in peaceful dwelling places, in secure homes, in undisturbed places of rest.

19그 숲은 우박에 상하고 성읍은 파괴되리라

19Though hail flattens the forest and the city is leveled completely,

20모든 물 가에 씨를 뿌리고 소와 나귀를 그리로 모는 너희는 복이 있느니라

20how blessed you will be, sowing your seed by every stream, and letting your cattle and donkeys range free.
